Installation Guidelines
Solmax's guideline for the H2Ri moisture management system, which does something no other geosynthetic in the catalogue does: it wicks water sideways out of the subgrade. That changes how it has to be laid, and most of this document is about that difference.
H2Ri is the one product here where a correct-looking installation can still fail completely, so it is worth reading rather than skimming.
The overlap has a direction. Everywhere else in this catalogue an overlap is an overlap. H2Ri moves water along its fibres, so lapping it the wrong way puts a dam where you meant to put a drain. The guide gives it its own section for that reason.
Section 9 is the one to read first: terminating to promote water removal. The fabric wicks moisture to its edge. If that edge is buried in the middle of the embankment the water has nowhere to go and you have built a wet line under the pavement instead of a drain. It has to daylight somewhere it can discharge. That detail is the difference between H2Ri working and H2Ri being an expensive separation fabric.
Intersections and obstacles get their own sections because both interrupt the drainage path. A manhole in the middle of a wicking layer is not the same problem as a manhole in the middle of a plain geotextile.
