The contractor’s case for geogrid is rarely about the finished pavement. It is about getting on and off the site. A working platform that survives the delivery sequence saves more than it costs, and undercut you do not have to dig and haul away is money that never leaves.
Fabric and geogrid are not competing here, they do different jobs. Fabric separates and filters; grid confines aggregate so it behaves as a stiffer layer. On very soft ground you often want both, or a composite that is both.
