Installation Guidelines
Tensar's installation sheet for the H-Series HX geogrids: storage, subgrade preparation, unrolling and shingling, overlap by subgrade strength, and placing fill without dragging the grid out of position.
H-Series lays directly on the subgrade, with no granular working layer underneath. That is the point of it over soft ground, and it is the step people who learned on older products tend to add back in out of habit.
The storage window is the practical difference from InterAx: eighteen months uncovered in direct sunlight rather than six. If grid has been sitting in a yard through a season, that is the number to check against.
Shingle the rolls in the direction the aggregate will be spread. Spreading against a shingle lifts the leading edge and pulls the grid out of line, and once the stone is down nobody can see it happened.
Where the design calls for a separation geotextile under the grid, Tensar FilterGrid puts both in one roll and saves a pass. We stock those, and the roll calculator has their sizes, which are shorter rolls than the plain grid, so the quantities are not interchangeable.
If you are trying to work out whether the HX grade you have been quoted matches what the plans call for, the cross-reference tool will tell you, including against the TriAx numbers it replaced.
