Installation Guidelines
The installation sheet for GlasGrid TF, the version carrying its own tack film so no separate tack coat is sprayed, with tighter surface temperature limits than the standard product.
The TF in the name is the tack film. It replaces the sprayed tack coat, which is the reason to choose this version: one fewer truck on site and no waiting for a tack to cure.
The temperature window is tighter than the standard GlasGrid and it is the thing to check before mobilising. Surface between 70°F and 140°F normally, but on asphalt less than 24 hours old the top of that range drops to 110°F. Fresh mat holds heat longer than people expect, so on a two-lift job this is a real constraint on how soon the second operation can follow the first, not a formality.
Everything else is the same discipline as any bonded interlayer: dry, clean, dust-free, with crack sealing and any levelling course finished first. The film bonds to what is on the pavement, and if that is dust then dust is what it is bonded to.
