Installation Guidelines
Tensar's method for installing the GlasGrid system: surface condition and temperature limits, storage of a self-adhesive product, and the two placement methods, by fabric tractor or by hand.
GlasGrid is a fibreglass grid with an adhesive back, so almost every rule in here is about the bond. The surface has to be dry, clean and dust-free, and between 40°F and 140°F. Outside that window the adhesive either will not grab or will not hold.
The storage requirement catches people out because it does not look like a material that needs looking after. It does: inside, dry, dust-free. A roll left out overnight in a yard picks up enough dust on the exposed face to compromise the bond, and that is not visible when it goes down.
If a tack coat is specified it can go before or after the grid depending on the site, but either way it must be completely cured before paving. Paving over uncured tack is how you get a grid floating in the mat instead of bonded under it.
When loading a fabric tractor, the red end of the core goes on a particular side. Get it backwards and the grid comes off adhesive-side up, which is the kind of mistake that costs a full roll and a morning.
