Installation Guidelines
Installation instructions for Cold Flex 2000, a hot applied membrane bonded with an AC tack coat, used over cracks and joints before an overlay to slow reflective cracking and keep water out of the base.
The mental model that makes this product make sense: it is an umbrella over the old crack. The mastic core gives the stress relief so the crack does not telegraph through the new overlay, and the same membrane keeps rain and runoff from getting down the crack into the base.
Rolling it in is not optional and it is the step most often left out. A rubber tyred or hand roller is listed as required equipment, not recommended. Membrane laid but not rolled has air under it, and air under a membrane is where the bond fails first.
Equipment scales down further than most systems: a kettle with a hand wand is preferred, but a pour pot with the tack squeegeed to coverage will do where a kettle is impractical. That makes this workable for a two-person crew on a short list of joints.
Road Fabrics stocks Polyguard alongside the rest of the interlayer range. Call us if you want a view on which membrane suits the repair.
