Installation Guidelines
Installation guidelines for MPBBC1450, a needle-punched nonwoven interlayer used as a bond breaker between cementitious pavement layers, so the two layers can move independently instead of cracking through.
This one is doing the opposite job to most of the library. Everywhere else the point is to bond layers together; here the point is to keep them apart, so an unbonded concrete overlay can move independently of the slab underneath instead of reflecting every joint straight through.
Because the fabric is the separation, damage to it is not cosmetic. The guide is specific about inspecting while unrolling and repairing anything found, and that is worth actually doing rather than nodding at: a tear is a place where the two layers will bond, and a bonded spot in an unbonded overlay is where the cracking starts.
Check the roll identification and length against the drawings before unrolling. Bond breaker looks like any other heavy nonwoven on a jobsite, and it is not interchangeable with one.
