Tensar's overview of the whole grade change range in one place, from reinforced soil slopes through segmental and wire-formed retaining walls, with where each one fits.
Read this before you have chosen a system, not after. Once a wall type is in the drawings it is hard to unpick, and the cost difference between a slope and a wall for the same grade change is usually larger than any difference within the wall options.
The rough decision order: if you have the room, a reinforced soil slope is normally the cheapest and can be vegetated. If you do not, a segmental block wall covers most situations. Wire-formed systems come in where differential settlement, seismic loading or heavy surcharge would give a friction connection trouble.
Tensar are a full-service provider here, which in practice means the engineering comes with the material rather than as a separate appointment. For a wall, that is worth more than the product specification.
